Conservative Sex Scandals, Part XVII

I didn't comment on it on here, but I'm sure most of you are aware of the sex scandal involving Aaron Bruns, the Fox News producer arrested last month on charges of possession of child pornography and if you're a liberal, you were probably doing the Dance of the Schaudenfreude that yet another stupid conservative type was exposed as a hypocrite.

Well, there's more to the story. Kenneth Walsh of the blog, Kenneth in the (212) has discovered that Mr Bruns has had a lot of interesting jobs that he may or may not have included on the resume he submitted when he was hired on at Fox News. Apparently, Bruns has also done some modeling, which isn't that unusual for an attractive, well-built young person interested in media-centric careers, but what is a little unusual about it, is that Bruns did nude modeling and appeared in The Complete Idiot's Guide to Supercharged Kama Sutra (Illustrated!) and the art reference book, Virtual Pose Duo: The Ultimate Visual Reference Series for Drawing the Human Figure. The Kama Sutra book doesn't feature full frontal nudity, (apparently, Idiots aren't interested in genitals) but the Pose Duo book does feature non-sexual, full-frontal nudity so it's probably NSFW at most workplaces.

Isn't it a bit ironic that Fox News has lambasted the President for not properly vetting some of his cabinet picks, when apparently Fox News doesen't do much of a background check on its own employees?

Douchebag of the Month Club

Beau Breedlove, the May component of the scandalous May-December relationship with out-gay mayor of Portland Oregon, Sam Adams has done an "erotic photo session" and will be the cover story of the May issue of the gay men's magazine, Unzipped, an adult publication that features full frontal nudity and stories that focus on gay sex, erotica and porn films and their stars.

Classy.

I thought Breedlove was supposed to be the innocent victim of all this? The poor, young, naive gay youth corrupted by a nasty, predatory, much older gay "child" molester and pathological liar...shouldn't Breedlove be sobbing somewhere, tearfully confessing to a love gone tragically wrong? Or am I being too harsh? Maybe exposing your wing-wang for cash because you're a media celebrity as a result of a sex scandal is an accepted form of therapy and a vital ingredient in the recipe for self-improvement! I mean, Breedlove's female equivalents have done the same, or similar, for the last 40 years; why should gay men be exempt from cashing in on their notoriety? Fair is fair, after all.

And, on a personal note, I'm hoping Mr Breedlove has been working out; I don't think he's unattractive or unhealthy but while he might be young and trim, he is not exactly buff...in personal snap shots of Breedlove posing in a brief Speedo swimsuit taken at a beach that have been leaked to the media, he didn't exactly display the stereotypical toned and well muscled physique of your average American Gay Twink/Pin up Model...and while it doesn't bother ME in the slightest, and I consider such attention to the importance of physical perfection to be abhorrant, I also know how vicious many Geighs can be about such perceived physical imperfections like badly receding hairlines or flabby body shapes.

Or, character imperfections, for that matter...

O.K., O.K....I know I'm coming off a little harsh, and like I'm some bitchy, old, prim, puritanical prude and I'm trying too hard to be arch and "funny" but this little twerp is pissing me off with his hypocrisy. Initially, Breedlove did take the high road when the scandal broke and said all the right things in a prudent manner, and generally acted like a "gentleman" and a grown-up. But, gradually, he kept on talking and commenting and adding more and more to the story and he quickly exited off the high road and merged onto the Highway of Trash Celebrity. It became obvious that Breedlove realized he liked the attention and the possible perks of being a media whore. Yes, I understand he's young and the young tend to be foolish and callow, but Breedlove is starting to roll around in the filth of his shallowness. And what's going to happen when the celebrity is gone? The media circus of any scandal is always ready to move on to the next big thing in the next big town...and let's be honest...a minor gay sex scandal involving the mayor of a minor American city is going to quickly get overshadowed by something newer and bigger and juicier. Our boy Beau is getting some attention and a little money for his fame NOW, but it's not going to last much longer and the money he's getting is minor. And when the end seems to be in sight, is he going to be able to withdraw from his celebrity heroin habit or will he crave more? Is an exclusive deal with Michael Lucas or Chi Chi LaRue or Titan Studios for Breedlove's porn film debut very far off? It wouldn't surprise me but it would also sadden me that this kid feels compelled to make foolish choices to extend his 15 minutes of trashy, unearned fame.

Monkey Shines star denounces Scientology.

Jason Beghe, perenial tv guest star who first came to my attention as the hunky, hairy parapalegic in the horrible 80's horror film, Monkey Shines (the one about the evil helper monkey), has publicly renounced, denounced and attacked his former "religion".

I got this from the Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/15/jason-beghe-tv-and-movie_n_96723.html

In 2005, Beghe appeared in promotional spots for the Church of Scientology. But now Beghe has escaped the church after taking courses since 1994. He's made a video that's up on YouTube.

This is what he has to say: "Scientology is destructive and a rip-off." He also says: "It's very, very dangerous for your spiritual, psychological, mental, emotional health and evolution. I think it stunts your evolution. If Scientology is real, then something's f----ed up."

Well, since allegedly so many celebrity homos take to Scientology to help them cope with life in the closet, does this mean this hottie is a 'mo?

And more importantly, when does Monkey Shines II come out?

Gay for Pay Porn Star involved in political scandal...

Ryan Idol, (real name: Marc Anthony Donais), superstar gay porn stud of the early 90's is back home in Alabama and linked to a scandal involving allegedly misappropriated funds for a Birmingham, Alabama municipal project that was supposed to be dedicated to providing computers for disadvantaged youth. The 41 year old actor seems a little elderly to be receiving that kind of funding but the acting gigs are few and far between for aging porn stars. There's only so many times you can do "Making Porn" or "Naked Men Singing/Dancing/Prancing". Though I shouldn't kid; Ryan/Marc did just make his Broadway debut in "The Ritz" last fall, and even though it didn't last long, that DOES look good on the resume, even though his role in "The Ritz" was billed as "Crisco Patron".

As for the scandal, you can read about it at: http://www.al.com/news/birminghamnews/index.ssf?/base/news/1203412513231020.xml&coll=2&thispage=1

In a nutshell, the mayor of Birmingham created this admirable program to help kids get access to computers but hired some crony of his to run it. The crony, John Katopodis, described as a "close" friend of the mayor, then blew $1,000,000 of tax payer money on trips, gambling and $30,000 worth of an ex-porn star's computer services. Here's a quote from the article in the Birmingham News:

Katopodis testified in his deposition that Donais, the adult-film actor, was paid to help the Council of Cooperating Governments and the Computer Help for Kids programs, both of which were handling money and expenses for Langford's computer initiative. Donais, a former Playgirl Magazine centerfold, has starred in seven gay adult films. Katopodis pointed out in his testimony that Donais also has appeared in plays in New York City.

"He's a businessman and had been working as, had done several off-Broadway productions and had been writing a play," Katopodis testified. "I don't know what else he was doing, you know."

Donais received $5,000 from the computer charity and $25,000 from the council, according to court filings. "He's very good at working on computers," Katopodis testified. "He's very adept at computers. But at the time he was working at the Council, he didn't work on computers."

Under further questioning, Katopodis said Donais worked for the computer charity without any formal training in that area.

"He repaired computers. He, as I say, helped us, he traveled helping to try to set up computer programs in other areas among disadvantaged communities," Katopodis said.

And check out these photos from the opening night party of "The Ritz". Uh, for 41 the dude looks a bit haggard. Granted, he DID survive a multi-story fall that may or may not have been a suicide attempt a few years ago, but he looks like a good-looking 51 instead of a handsome and vital 41. I shouldn't be so bitchy though. I have to admit, I saw Ryan Idol in "Making Porn" nearly 10 years ago, here in Seattle. The audience consisted of myself, 3 uncomfortable women, and 50 fat, middle-aged, bitchy old queens. This was after Ryan's accident and while he looked good, his stomach was NOT flat and he was carrying about 10 to 15 extra pounds on him, which I liked 'cause it made him more realistic and not as pumped up and overly muscled as most porn stars. But, at intermission, I overheard more than one fat old queen sniff, "My, he's not looking his best, is he?" which was pretty fucking ironic coming from a 55 year old poof with 60 extra pounds of fat hanging over his belt.

As for his acting, let's just say it was up to the play, which for those of you who've seen "Making Porn", can appreciate what I'm saying. (I've seen middle school students write better dialogue...) The best part of the evening was after it was over; Ryan Idol stood at the main exit to the auditorium and graciously offered to sign copies of his videos...for a small fee. Part of me wants to say, that he was naked at the door, but I can't swear to it. He might have had a towel or jockstrap on. It was a delightful evening of quality theatre.

Oh, and to give credit where it is due, I first heard about this at Towelroad.
And the more recent photos, I got from the Broadway World website, (http://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=22126) and the photo credit is: Photos by Walter McBride
