Seattle Erotic Art Show is Saturday, March 1st and ONE DAY ONLY

this year. Here's the info:

Come Celebrate our Sixth Year
March 1st 6pm-2am
Seattle Center Exhibition Hall (Mercer Street @ 3rd Ave N)
$20 in advance, $25 at the door.
No host bar. 21+ with valid photo ID

Here's the website: http://www.seattleerotic.org/site/

As I said in my earlier post on this, I'm not thrilled that Aleksa Manilla is hosting and $20/25 is pretty steep for a show that wasn't very good last year. I'm debating on whether or not to go to this.

UPDATE: I looked further at the website. I'm completely underwhelmed by the art and the artists involved, and it's the same old goddamned entertainment they have EVERY year, including lots of burlesque which I used to like but it's the same people doing the same thing over and over! And the Virgin project thing is back again!
This group needs some new blood and some fucking new curators; it's fucking sad when erotic art is boring!

Check out local artist, CASH...

He's just a babe; only 19 and largely self-taught. He was in my "Vampire Pixies from Uranus" show at the LGBT Center...he was one of my token straight artists. His stuff is good, and getting better and he needs to start booking some shows.

Oh, and check out his MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/cash_1988

The Stranger has an article about Viveza, a soon to close art gallery....

This led me to the Viveza website, which is still active, (http://www.viveza.com/) and some art I really like from Raymond Morrow. If you are interested in it, contact the gallery; I'm sure they'll keep the website active for awhile...It's sad when a gallery has to close, but the owner put $200k into it before giving up the ghost. Running a gallery, is incredibly demanding and getting it to be a profitable business enterprise, is just very difficult. I'm also kind of pleased that a couple artists that have shown with QArts, Michelle Salazar and Doughlas Remy, also showed work at Viveza and I HAVE a piece by Remy, (who works in glass; it's hard to describe and the only photograph I have is horrible, but his stuff is really interesting and beautiful), and I'd LIKE to have some pieces from Michelle, but I can't afford it; she's getting pretty pricey. Anyway, enjoy these pieces by Raymond Morrow.
